Arvada and Denver Dental Implants – Restorative Dentistry by New Era Dental

Missing teeth affect more than just the aesthetics of your smile. Losing a tooth – whether due to injury, disease, or daily wear – can cause the remaining teeth to shift out of place, the jawbone to deteriorate, and facial structure to change. Dental implants are an excellent option to restore form and function to your mouth, in addition to closing gaps and creating a beautiful smile. Since dental implants are attached to the jawbone, patients can enjoy their new smiles for many years to come. At New Era Dental’s Arvada practice, serving patients from Denver and nearby areas, dental implants are highly recommended by Drs. Tom Niemi and Paula Coffee.

Placing Dental Implants

Dental implants are thin titanium rods surgically placed in the jawbone to replace the missing tooth root; the implants process requires two surgeries, with a healing period in between called osseointegration. Before the first surgery, we will examine your mouth and take digital X-rays to develop a treatment plan. On the day of the first surgery, we will prepare the jawbone for the implants, and then implant the rods into the jawbone in the missing tooth socket. We may put a temporary restoration on the top of the implant. Your implant will heal for approximately three to six months. During this healing period, called osseointegration, the titanium rod of the implant bonds to your jawbone.

Once the implant has bonded to the jawbone, you will return to our office in Arvada, near Denver. The bone will have grown around the dental implants, providing a sturdy base on which to attach the artificial tooth or teeth. Depending on your needs and treatment plan, we will attach a single tooth replacement, like a crown, or multiple teeth replacements, like a bridge, to the dental implant. Implants can even support a full set of dentures. The replacement tooth or teeth will be created specifically for you to match the shape and shade of your surrounding teeth. You'll enjoy the look and feel of your new teeth for years to come, since they are incredibly long lasting when you schedule regular cleanings and check-ups with our dentists. Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are another option for patients missing one or more teeth. Mini implants are smaller than traditional implants and usually placed to stabilize dentures. The process still requires two office visits, the first to take impressions of your mouth, and the second visit to place the implants. The procedure to place mini implants is similar to that of traditional dental implants, but less invasive, quicker, and cheaper.
